Definitely need to give it a go at least once. You can reduce the recipe easily.

This one really resonated with me Alex (esp the tight jeans bit 😊). Thanks also for sharing the link to the BBC programme—sounds like a great listen. And those eggs!

Thank you so much Liz, I never quite know if the BBC link will work in the states. Think it’s in official podcast format so should be able to get it if you need.

Great post. I love some of the recipes in the Fast 800 - and am back on that since coming back from the UK where way too many beers and way too many carbs were ingested. Great idea to batch cook the Shakshuke... I might do the same. As an aside, I'm working my way through Jay Rayner - I haven't cooked anything, but as always, his writing is fantastic.

Holidays are hard and definitely take their toll! I love how witty Jay Rayner is with his writing, I’m not sure I will cook anything either. Normally I have a pile of stickies that I attach as I go, but not this time. Early days though.

The books you mention all look interesting (the Jay Rayner is on my list already. My dear other half won't eat eggs unfortunately - or rather eggs that look like eggs not eggs per se ie hidden in a cake or quiche.

Can’t imagine a life without eggs, my earliest food memory is soldiers with soft boiled eggs. Your hubby is in the Nigel Slater camp, it’s hard to believe he’s not an egg fan either!

I just can't get my head around it either!

Oh I so relate to feeding a gym bro!!! My 22 year old can’t get enough food 😂 While I, like you, have to be mindful of what I’m eating and keep on moving. Lovely post Alex and thanks for the mention. And I LOVED the audio!!! 🎧

Really enjoyed going through some of your back catalogue after the catchup the other day. Nice to put the person with the writing and I guess that’s what I did by reading. Which took a few goes I have to say! Also taught myself a few things in the process. Thanks Betty

I loved this post Alex! I relate deeply to your thoughts about balance and health without restrictions but with a more mindful approach. Adding restrictions to my life has never worked out well for me and I hate diets and diet culture. But, I am forever trying to learn how to do a better job of tuning into what makes me feel healthy and nourished - a much more difficult task than it seems. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and your recipes (Shakshuka is one of my favorite meals!) and the shout out! I appreciate it!

The more I read, with the Andrew Jenkins book dieting is never going to work, the brain is too clever! Thanks for reading Rebecca and the re-stack much appreciated.
